AIHP Welcomes Board of Pharmacy Specialties as New National Pharmacy Association Sponsor

Board of Pharmacy Specialties LogoThe American Institute of the History of Pharmacy is pleased to announce that the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) is the newest member of the Institute’s National  Association Sponsorship program. BPS has chosen to support the Institute at the Contributor level with a $2,500 annual contribution.

The Board of Pharmacy Specialties is the leading post-licensure certification agency providing specialty certification of pharmacists. BPS’ responsibilities include granting recognition of appropriate pharmacy practice specialties, establishing standards for certification of pharmacists in recognized pharmacy practice specialties, and granting certification and recertification to qualified pharmacists in recognized pharmacy practice specialties. Currently, there are more than 36,000 BPS Board Certified Pharmacists in nine recognized pharmacy practice specialties. BPS was established in 1976 and exists today as an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association.

AIHP’s National Pharmacy Association Sponsorship program was founded in 2015 to build mutually supportive relationships between the Institute and the major pharmacy organizations in the United States. The program is founded on the premise that the Institute’s work to preserve and disseminate the history of pharmacy benefits the entire profession. Through ongoing annual contributions, participating sponsors provide AIHP with a stable base of financial support and demonstrate their support for advancing and broadening knowledge of pharmacy’s history.

Actively engaged in preserving the documents of pharmacy's past and developing materials for understanding the future.
