AIHP’s Nominations Committee has nominated Secretary Robert Buerki and Director Catherine Taglieri for new three-year terms on the Institute’s Board of Directors. The Committee will formally present the nominees at AIHP’s Annual Business Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, November 14, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (1:00 p.m. Central Standard Time).

Buerki and Taglieri each were recently re-elected to the Board of Directors for one-year terms ending in November 2020. The one-year terms were part of the ongoing transition to implement staggered three-year terms for all AIHP officers and directors.

Buerki has served as AIHP’s Secretary since 2005 and previously served a term as AIHP’s President (1983-85). He is Professor-Emeritus at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, where he taught the history of pharmacy and professional ethics.  He is a member of the International Academy of the History of Pharmacy and is the 2004 recipient of AIHP’s Edward Kremers Award.

Taglieri was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2018. She is currently Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at MCPHS University (formerly known as the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences).  She is the Editor for the AACP’s History of Pharmacy Special Interest Group (SIG) Newsletter and previously served as Secretary of the SIG.

Under AIHP bylaws, any member in attendance at the Annual Business Meeting can nominate additional candidates if seconded by two other members. The Nominations Committee’s nominees, plus any additional members nominated at the Annual Business Meeting, will be on the ballot circulated to members in 2020.

AIHP members William Zellmer, W. Clarke Ridgway, and John Colaizzi serve on the Nominations Committee.
