AIHP 2020 Annual Business Meeting

AIHP’s Annual Business Meeting was held Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. Central/2:00 p.m. Eastern. The virtual meeting was streamed live on the Internet.

The Annual Business Meeting is the Institute’s once-a-year meeting of members. It is an opportunity for Institute leaders to report on the organization’s status and activities and for members to ask questions of the Institute’s leaders.

Meeting agenda and information

An important item of business on the agenda this year was a presentation on proposed changes to AIHP’s bylaws. An Institute task force earlier this year undertook a comprehensive review of the bylaws, which are the basic rules governing Institute operations. The primary goal of the review was to update and modernize the bylaws, which had not been thoroughly reviewed in many years.

At its June meeting, AIHP’s Board of Directors received the recommendations of the task force and approved a variety of bylaw changes. However, the changes must be approved by Institute members before they can take effect.

Another feature of this year’s Annual Business Meeting was a special guest lecture by John D. Grabenstein, RPh, PhD, recipient of the 2020 Remington Honor Medal and current AIHP Vice President. Dr. Grabenstein, a globally recognized vaccinologist, pharmacist, and epidemiologist, will deliver a lecture entitled “Applying History’s Lessons to Contemporary COVID-19 Vaccination.” Read more about this special guest lecture.

Additional agenda items included:

• Status reports from AIHP’s officers, Historical Director, and Executive Director;
• Nominations to fill the positions of directors whose terms are expiring in 2021;
• Special reports on the recently announced changes to AIHP’s journal and to the Institute’s awards program;
• Presentation of the AIHP Robert P. Fischelis Award.
