Since its founding in 1941, the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy has been located at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy in Madison, Wisconsin. Throughout its history, AIHP has enjoyed a close working relationship with the UW School of Pharmacy, and the Dean of the School of Pharmacy is an ex officio member of the AIHP Board of Directors.
In 2001, AIHP moved with the rest of the UW School of Pharmacy to its present location in Rennebohm Hall at 777 Highland Avenue on the UW Health Sciences Campus. AIHP’s headquarters is located in room 1404 on the north side of Rennebohm Hall facing Marsh Drive across from lot 76. AIHP offices in Rennebohm Hall also house the Kremers Reference Files, AIHP’s primary on-site research collection, as well as AIHP’s historical artifact collection, trade catalog collection, school catalog collection, and other historical material.
AIHP’s headquarters is generally open from 10:00-4:30 Monday-Friday, but please contact the main office at firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm availability. All researchers seeking to access AIHP’s historical collections must contact AIHP beforehand to arrange a visit.
