AIHP is delighted to welcome Holly Mason, PhD, to its Board of Directors as the Institute’s new Treasurer. Dr. Mason succeeds W. Clarke Ridgway, who resigned as Treasurer in November when he became the Institute’s President.
Dr. Mason is Professor of Pharmacy Administration in the College of Pharmacy at Purdue University. He previously served as Senior Associate Dean of the college from 1998-2018. He received his BS in Pharmacy and PhD in Social Sciences of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. During his graduate program, one of his two secondary areas of study was the history of pharmacy.
Dr. Mason has been on the Purdue faculty for 40 years, beginning in 1979. He is an APhA Fellow, and he has received various awards, including the Robert K. Chalmers Distinguished Educator Award presented by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and he was recognized by the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy as a Citation of Merit recipient.
His research
focuses on the development of methodologies to assess performance-based student
outcomes in pharmacy education; pharmacist practice patterns and the supply of
pharmacy personnel; the effects of pharmacy education and practice on the
career path development of pharmacists; and the delivery of patient-oriented
pharmacy services.
Dr. Mason has
been a member of AIHP since 1982 and previously served two terms on the AIHP
Council (1990-1993, 2000-2003). Under AIHP’s bylaws, AIHP’s Treasurer is
elected by the Institute’s Board of Directors. Dr. Mason will serve a
three-year term.
