Please read the complete AGENDA (.pdf) for the meeting.

The meeting will include several features you will definitely want to see:

  • AIHP Board Member, David Herzberg, a leading historian of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals will present a special live lecture on historical precursors to today’s opioid crisis. The lecture, entitled “The Opioid Crisis in Historical Perspective: What We Can Learn From a Century of Addiction to Pharmaceuticals,” will review past epidemics of pharmaceutical addiction and draw lessons for today from America’s long history of policy failures and occasional successes. Click here for more information about the lecture.
  • Retiring Executive Director Greg Higby will reflect on his 40 years at AIHP in a pre-recorded interview with President William Zellmer. Greg discusses the origins of his life-long interest in history and his professional connection with pharmacy as well as some of his future plans. He also reflects on how the field of the history of pharmacy has changed during his tenure.
  • AIHP’s Robert P. Fischelis Award will be presented to the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy for its decades of support of the Institute and its many contributions to the field of the history of pharmacy.

In addition, in accordance with AIHP’s bylaws, the Nominations Committee will present its proposed slate of officers and directors. (The nominees will be on the ballot circulated to members in 2019). Under AIHP’s bylaws, any member in attendance can nominate additional candidates if seconded by two additional members. Click here for more information about the Nomination Committee’s nominees and for candidate bios.

Finally, AIHP’s officers will present brief status reports. The written reports (.pdfs) are available at the links below:
